What is fructo-oligosaccharides?

Fructo-oligosaccharide(FOS) is an important type in oligosaccharides, also called as kestose oligosaccharide. It refers to kestose, nystose, 1F-fructofuranosylnystose and their mixtures that fructose residues of sucrose molecule, by β(2—1)glucosidic bond, connect with 1~3  fructosyls. It’s an excellent soluble dietary fiber.

As a special health food, FOS has a significant effect in improving stomach and intestine’s function, lowing blood fat, regulating body balance and improving immunity. 1. Sweetness and taste
The sweetness of 50%~60%FOS is 60% of saccharose, The sweetness of 95%FOS is 30% of saccharose, and it has more refreshing and pure taste, without any bad smell.

2. Low calorie
FOS can’t be decomposed by α-amylase、 invertase and maltase,can’t be used as energy by human body, don’t increase blood glucose. FOS’s calorie is only 6.3KJ/g,which is very suitable for patients with diabetes and obesity.

During the temperature of 0℃~70℃,FOS’s viscosity is similar to isomeric sugar,but it will decrease with the increase of temperature.
